How to Fix Error 0x800f0906: The source files could not be downloaded

Many Windows 10 users have reported error code 0x800f0906 when running the following command from the command line with elevated privileges: Dism.exe / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth

  4. Tap Change date and time. Set the current date/time/year and tap OK.
  5. Tap the Change Time Zone button. Set the current time zone and tap OK.

  1. open an administrative command prompt.
  2. Copy the following code and right-click to paste it into the command line:
  • wuauserv net stop
  • CD% systemroot% \ SoftwareDistribution
  • ren Download Download.old
  • Clean start wuauserv
  • Clean stop bits
  • Network boot bits
  • cryptsvc net stop
  • cd% systemroot% \ system32
  • ren catroot2 catroot2old
  • cryptsvc net boot
  1. Finish! Close the command line. Restart DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth and try again, this time without getting an error code.

Install any Windows updates available for your computer

If you are having this problem because one or more of the Windows updates available for your computer are not installed, the solution to this problem is simply to install all of the Windows updates available for your computer. To do this, you need to:
